The water pump

Who think that parts right out of the box are a fit and forget part is wrong. Note the pully attaching disc is out of line in comparison to the original one. Nothing a hydraulic press couldn't fix though :) Sancho & BerT3engine 031

The rebuild

Race car almost finished - installed the heads again today. 6 hours later and the job was done - everything went fine. Now some fine tuning as it still doesn't sound right - Monday I hope it will be fixed. Expensive stuff those Japanese parts . In the end it wasn't the joint de culasse but just the seal in between the inlet manifold and head. That damn manifold is watercooled too - as is the turbo ! In the end I just used 2 seals out of a set of € 150 ! We are getting there :) BerT3 & Sanchoengine 030

Stripping

We decided to strip the engine as we were sure after doing some compression test that one side of the engine was dead. Luckily for us the easy side. Stripping the engine went easy. We cleaned up all parts and ordered a seal set and a new water pump. engine 028

 Thursday

Finished the race car on Thirsday with the new fuel pump until we wanted to fill the water cooler up again. Massive water leak at the water pump through it's "hole" . Also had a leak between one cylinder head and a water canal. Result water out of the exhaust - water in the oil - compression loss. Gonna be 2 hard days this weekend to fix this ! We'll get it fixed in time no matter how. BerT3 & Sancho

Fuel pump

We though to replace the fuel pump with an OEM Subaru one until we heard the price - Euro 325 + vat ! Insane ! We decided to buy a Bosch one capable of 5 bar in combination with a Mann inline pré fuel filter with 10mm / 10mm fittings. The fuel pump uses a professional banjo fitting. For those intrested in part numbers: the pump: 0 580 254 909 - (390) - the filter was a WK 32/7. We will install these parts tomorrow evening and try to solve some other problems !Sancho & BerT3update 013
